Stones against the iron fist, terror within the nation: alternating structures of violence and cultural identity in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

Two alternating 'structures of violence' have emerged to define the instrumentality of the conflict, one Israeli, the other Palestinian. They have a 3 fold character--a material goal, institutional modes, and a moral imperative, which make up an ideology of violence. Initially both sides lacked these ideologies, and then proceeded to elaborate them in tandem. (JLN)
